Last, First M. “Article Title.” Publication Title, volume, number, issue (if provided), date published, page numbers (if applicable). Database Name, URL.

Last Name, First Name. Title of Book. City of Publication, Publisher, Publication Date.

Author's name, "Title of Page," (in quotations) Name of Website, (in italics) Publisher, Publisher date, URL. (without the https://)

Elements of a Citation MLA

To cite a website, you should have the following information:

  • Author.
  • Title of source.
  • Title of the container,
  • Other contributors (names and roles),
  • Version,
  • Number,
  • Publisher,
  • Publication date,
  • Location of the source (such as DOI, URL, or page range).

To Cite a book in MLA you should have the following information:

  • Author’s name
  • Title of book
  • Publisher of the book
  • Year published
